ROSCOE HAS BEEN ADOPTED!!!
On July 13, I got an email from GSMDCA Rescue asking me if I would please check out a possible Swissy that was in a local shelter. GSMDCA Rescue had been contacted by a concerned individual informing that a possible Swissy or Swissy mix was listed in the Manassas VA paper on Friday July 11th.
At the time Roscoe had been at the Manassas Animal Control Adoption Center for 3 weeks
and his time was quickly running out.
I went to see him on July 15, 2008 and took the photos posted below.
It is possible that Roscoe is part Swissy .
Since he is not a purebred Swissy,GSMDCA Rescue could not take him.
So, I hoped that by posting this information and these photos here, someone who has been looking
for that special dog, would see Roscoe and adopt him.
Roscoe is about a year old, unneutered and was found as a stray.
Roscoe is about 70 lbs , tri colored and has a stocky build and is very sound.
He is in fit condition and his coat is shiny and beautiful. Most importantly, he is very sweet with people.
The folks at the shelter arent completely sure how he is with other dogs.
He came into the visitors room ,walked right up to me , put his head in my lap and then proceeded to go to the toy box, grab a squeaky toy and give it to me.
On 1 August I called the Manassas Animal Adoption Center Manassas (VA) ( 703-257-2420)
to check up on Roscoe's status. I was overjoyed to be told that he had just been adopted and would be going to his new home in the upcoming weekend.
I hope Roscoe has a wonderful life and that thousands of other strays will find great homes like he has.
It is so sad that people are breeding different breeds to each other, creating cutesy names for them, and actually selling them for thousands of dollars and even sadder that people are buying such "designer" mutts when thousands of dogs like Roscoe are being euthanized every day.
